  • Dr. Charles F. Streckfus received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins University in 1969. He received his Master of Arts degree in Psycho/biology from Towson State University in 1973. In 1978 he graduated with a DDS degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Dr. Streckfus has held several research positions including Assistant Dean of Research and Graduate Programs, University of Mississippi Medical Center, 1998 - 2005; Professor, Department of Diagnostic Sciences (tenured), School of Dentistry, 1997-Present; Professor, Department of Anatomy (tenured), School of Dentistry, 1998 - Present; Professor, Graduate Programs, 1995-Present; Director of Clinical Research, 1998-Present; Chief of Clinical Investigations, 1995-Present; and Associate Professor, Department of Diagnostic Sciences, 1995-1997. Dr. Streckfus has published over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles and has numerous published abstracts and presentations. He has received several honors and awards which include President’s Award for Scientific Excellence, Presented by the International Society for Preventive Oncology, 6th International Symposium Predictive Oncology Intervention Strategies, Pasteur Institute, Paris France, February 12, 2002. Gerontological Society of America: Certificate of Recognition, National Institutes for Dental Research: Merit Award, American Academy of Oral Medicine, Professional Service Award 4/24/91, elected Fellow, American College of Dentists; induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Rho Sigma Chapter, National Dental Honor Society; and Faculty of the Year Award, American College of Dentists, Mississippi Section. Dr. Streckfus is a Fellow Academy of Oral Medicine and Fellow American Academy of Dentistry. He has had hospital privileges with the Warren Grant Magnuson Hospital and Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD; Johns Hopkins Hospital Bayview Campus, Baltimore, MD, and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Jackson, MS. He is also a published writer. His research interests are in cancer, salivary proteomics, and biomarkers.
