Short Bio
  • Dr. Liang-Jun Yan is a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. His research is centered on redox imbalance and mitochondrial oxidative stress in aging and age-related metabolic disease. His lab is currently working on kidney disease, in particular, ischemia- and drug-induced acute kidney injury and chronic diabetic kidney disease. The objective of these investigations is to understand the mechanisms of oxidative stress and redox dysregulation in these kidney diseases, and identify novel targets for developing potential therapeutics. In relation to these studies, Dr. Yan is also interested in studying the therapeutic values of natural products derived from plants and herbs that can be used to fight kidney disease.
